Illinois Valley Youth Choir

IVYC is a community youth choir for boys and girls in grades 3-8. We serve the greater LaSalle County area.

One of my favorite parts of this concert (and there were many!) was this impromptu sing-along while we were finishing getting vests and bowties on.
“Something Told the Wild Geese” October 3, 2023. This was our first day learning this section of the music. One thing that’s very important to me as a teacher is recognizing GROWTH. But in order to see growth, you have to record it when it’s just being learned! Most people see the finished version of what musicians do. We applaud them in concert but they do a lot of work beforehand learning the music and getting it just right. I applaud how well they sing together even though we’ve only had a handful of rehearsals. They have such beautiful voices!

S’Vivon - Sneak peek 👀 of S’Vivon One of their favorite songs to sing all semester! It’s easy to hear why. It’s such a fun piece.

IVYC Rehearsal 10-11-22 - It’s important for students to see (and hear!) their progress as they go from learning a new song to performing it memorized at the concert. Families often only get to hear the finished product, which we are super proud of. But I’m immensely proud of the hard work these singers put in each week. After I let them hear this clip, they wanted to try it again to see if they could do it a little better! That’s what great musicians do!
